TAMARA'S TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR ATTENDING A DANCE FITNESS CLASS

Hi ladies, I started taking Dance fitness at a gym two weeks ago and I immediately realized there is a need to outline some "commandments" that should be followed.

Here are a number of things to take note of when you want to attend a Dance fitness/Cardio session:

1.  THOU SHALT PACKAGE WELL! This is certainly my main point. Look, I am not 'heavily endowed' but before I do anything cardio, I endeavour to package myself. I wear a regular bra, a half-top kinda bra and then I wear a sports bra before putting on my top/t-shirt. Yes, I do all this overload and when I jump you still see boobs shaking a little. So imagine if I didn't wear all these? Or even imagine I'm heavier on top?! Sisters please and please, don't come for class loosely. Doesn't it hurt???

In this first video, I forgot I was wearing a maternity bra so A LOT of jiggling going on:

In this video, I had changed to a more fitting bra with a sports bra. Still jiggling o but better than before. What we women have to handle sha...

2.  THOU SHALT WEAR THE APPROPRIATE OUTFIT. Sorting your inner wear is great. Also, you should put on the right clothes and shoes. For Dance fitness, you should wear leggings or trousers that are high on spandex. You need elasticity because of all the stretches and lifting your legs would be doing. Wear loose-fitting tops that wouldn't restrict your arms from moving freely. For your feet, put on sports shoes/sneakers or even dance shoes. It is not wise to come in jeans and sandals. Please invest in these items. It is for your own good.
3.  THOU SHALT COME WITH YOUR WATER BOTTLE. Staying hydrated throughout exercise is very important. When you workout, you sweat and your body loses fluid. So refueling your system with water refreshes your body and helps build up strength. You need water to function. Please don't take this for granted.
4. THOU SHALT NOT WEAR UNNECESSARY JEWELRY. The Dance fitness floor is NOT the right place to show off your newly acquired chandelier earrings. Biko, save them for dinner date with le boo. I know some women never remove their wedding rings. If it is the wedding band alone then no problem. But if you choose to wear the entire set - including the stone/stud, then there could be problem. My routines get you in plank position. That is, your hands would be on the floor, supporting your body. If you have studded rings on, they could poke you or even break. Are you ready to buy new ring or simply remove and keep till after the class? Please save the rings, earrings, bangles, necklaces, etc till after class.
5.  THOU SHALT BE READY TO TRY. It's not fun when I'm busting my energy to keep the class going and someone is just looking and saying, "Abeg, I cannot do that move." You should come with an attitude of at least giving it a try. A fitness session is not competition or presentation. The aim is to sweat. It is not about how best you can dance like the instructor, it is for you to give it a shot not just stand there unwilling to try.
6. THOU SHALT NOT ARRIVE 'FASHIONABLY LATE'. Please leave fashionable lateness for birthday parties 😀. When coming for fitness, you want to maximize every single minute o, especially when you have kilos to shed. Come early also so that you don't miss the warm-up session. It is very vital to give your body a good start before the high impact dancing begins.
7. THOU SHALT NOT MOCK THE NEXT PERSON. Okay, so you've got the moves locked down, you're a great dancer, you have energy... Well-done! But please don't begin to use your side eye to scope the woman that is struggling and then begin to laugh. Just face your front and do your thing. Everyone picks up routines at different pace.
8.  THOU SHALT NOT ASK QUESTIONS DURING THE SESSION. Asking questions or drawing for the instructor's attention can disrupt the flow especially when it is a Dance fitness class. Just go with the flow. If there is a move that is challenging, find a way to keep moving as you wait for the next move.
9.  THOU SHALT ALWAYS INVITE A FRIEND WHEN NEXT YOU'RE COMING 😘😘😘
10.  THOU SHALT NOT ASK ME WHY I USE ONLY GOSPEL MUSIC FOR MY DANCE FITNESS SESSIONS, JUST ENJOY THE CLASS, BURN CALORIES & HAVE FUN 😛
