EXERCISE: Physical exercise vs. Spiritual exercise (Pt. 4)

As we say goodbye to January 2018, I conclude my four-part series on physical and spiritual exercise. To read earlier parts, click here , here and here .  One definition of exercise says; "Something performed or practiced in order to develop, improve, or display a specific capability or skill." 4.   YOU MUST BE CONSISTENT This point can never be overemphasized. On-today-off-tomorrow doesn't get anybody anywhere. When you consistently work on improving yourself you would surely get better daily. Spiritually, when we make a lifestyle of praying, studying the Bible, fellowshipping, seeking God's face, we become more and more like Him. Our character is refined and we begin to operate in superior wisdom. We get closer and closer to being God-like in our thoughts, speech and actions. Likewise, with physical exercise, when you consistently clock-in your workout routines you get closer and closer to your goal of being physically fit. You become stronger, can last lon...

EXERCISE: Physical exercise vs. Spiritual exercise (Pt. 3)

So we are still on the topic for this first month of 2018, and this is the third installment. If you haven't read parts one and two please read here  and here .  One definition of exercise says; "Something performed or practiced in order to develop, improve, or display a specific capability or skill." 3.   IT REQUIRES SACRIFICE If you're not ready to make worthy sacrifices please don't bother imagining growth. When on the pathway to spiritual maturity/fitness, your whole life becomes sacrificial. You are no longer living for yourself but you become a vessel which God uses at His will. You sacrifice your time to be there for others, you sacrifice sleep to spend more time seeking God's face, you sacrifice your financial resources to meet the needs of God's kingdom, you even sacrifice your desires to be where God wants you to be. God showed us the perfect example of sacrifice by giving His son, Jesus Christ, to be the Sacrificial Lamb for us al...

Here is the continuation from the series which I began last week. If you have not read part one, please read here -  http://dmcbytamara.blogspot.com.ng/2018/01/exercise-physical-exercise-vs-spiritual.html  One definition of exercise says; "Something performed or practiced in order to develop, improve, or display a specific capability or skill." 2.  YOU NEED TO FOCUS Sometimes, we look at our bodies and find some 'trouble spots'. When I was trying so hard to loose weight after nursing my sons, I found out fat was leaving some parts of my body faster than the others. My stomach was the first to go down and that really gave me joy! Stomach - check! Hips and thighs - No check! My lower body was a struggle. I had stayed active and eaten healthy about 70% of the time and for two months I didn't loose an inch from my thighs. It was frustrating. I then made the decision to not only do cardio and strength training but to focus on lower body workouts like lunges, s...

Happy New Year!!! I am so glad you made it to 2018. God indeed is FAITHFUL, so please be GRATEFUL! I have so much cooking for this year and it gives me so much excitement. To kick-start 2018, I will be doing a four-part blog series highlighting the similarities between physical and spiritual exercise. The inspiration (and most of the content) came to me late last year as I began my weight-loss journey post second baby. In the midst of motivating myself to workout, I found out that exercise - physical and spiritual - have quite a number of things in common. So, I decided the best time to share these with you is at the start of this new year so you can find some motivation/inspiration to improve yourself physically and spiritually, sooner than later...  One definition of exercise says; "Something performed or practiced in order to develop, improve, or display a specific capability or skill."  1.  IT IS TOUGH!!!  Do not be deceived for a second, exercis...
