HEY MAMA, DON'T LET YOUR DREAMS DIE!

Image
I know.  Sister, I know just how it feels t o begin to wonder if your dreams will ever come true... Mehn , women go through so many changes in life. I look back at my days of single-hood; what my body looked like then, how freely available I was to take every teaching job that came my way... Fast forward to this present day and I am amazed at how different my reality is. No offense to men but what we go through  ehn ,  e  no get competition o. After I gave birth to my second son, I looked at my body in the mirror and I was confused. I wondered if I would ever get my 'original' stomach back. But my point isn't even mainly about physical changes but the psychological ones. Raising a child takes a lot of inner and outer strength, raising two or more children challenges the heck out of your entire being! Time begins to feel so short. Your whole attention is on your little ones - their feeding, their safety while playing, their crying/whining, their everything. If f...

IT IS ACTUALLY A GIRL'S WORLD...

Have you ever wondered why there are no male "caregivers" at a creche/preschool? I have read a number of reasons why but I personally think THE WORLD has two main reasons:  1. Ladies/Women are naturally maternal. It is generally believed that a woman (whether or not she has delivered her own children) would know how to properly care for babies, infants and toddlers better than men. Accept it or not, sexual abuse is a major issue in Nigeria and the world at large. And studies reveal most perpetrators are men.  So, can you really blame schools for not employing men for some roles? Very recently, someone sent me a WhatsApp chat asking to work for me as a Ballet instructor who could take private as well as group Ballet classes. There was no picture on the DP so I asked f...

DANCE FITNESS VS. AEROBICS

I went somewhere recently and the host introduced me to the audience as an Aerobics instructor. You should have seen the look on my face - well, more like the look on my face that I made in my mind! I have no issue with the word AEROBICS but I am just not an aerobics instructor. I am a DANCE FITNESS INSTRUCTOR . So, I took the MIC and corrected the notion. Trust me. 😀 So what is AEROBICS? Aerobic exercise is ANY physical activity that makes you sweat, causes you to breathe harder, and gets your heart beating faster than at rest. It strengthens your heart and lungs and trains your cardiovascular system to manage and deliver oxygen more quickly and efficiently throughout the body. It is also called "CARDIO".  What is DANCE FITNESS? Dance fitness is a form of CARDIO/AEROBIC exercise that incorporates various forms of dance styles.  Errr... So Tamara, what is the fuss about being called an Aerobics instructor? Isn't Dance a form of aerobics?  Let me explain it this way:...
